About Lazy Acres Campground
History of Lazy Acres Campground
Hello, This is just to tell you a little about our Campground. We are family owned. Our parents, John and Hazel Truxal, farmed this property for 40 years. Then in 1975 one of their milk customers asked if they could rent a portion of ground to place a camper on it. Well that started the ball rolling. This man had a friend who wanted to join in the camping and he had a friend and he had a friend and that is how we got to be where we are today. At first it started as almost what you would call squatters rights. What ever property you wanted to make into a campsite was claimed by just marking your boundaries with stones. Later they were marked with water and sewage hookups. That is why most of our campsites are quite spacious. The campground is now owned and managed by John Jr., Gayle and Sheree, (John and Hazel’s children). We have made a few adjustments but basically we have tried to keep it a family oriented campground. We like to keep the old traditions of bands or DJ’s bi-monthly, campground yard sales, Christmas in July, the annual corn roast, and of course the Halloween Party to end the season. Please browse through this web site and see some of our activities and campsites. We have a real nice group of campers here and I hope you will come and visit us soon.
Sincerely
Gayle
